The Black Nurses Association of New Mexico and El Paso (BNANMEP) proudly celebrates its president, Dr. Jochebed B. Ade-Oshifogun, PhD, CNE, NI-RN, PMHNP-BC, FADLN, on the successful completion of her Fulbright Scholar assignment at Babcock University in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria.
During her assignment from September 2025 through May 2026, Dr. Ade-Oshifogun taught graduate nursing students, facilitated research and professional-development workshops, mentored students and faculty, and supported the advancement of nursing scholarship within Babcock University’s School of Nursing. Her work included strengthening graduate research education, qualitative research skills, scholarly writing, and the use of learning-management systems in nursing education.
This international engagement reflects BNANMEP’s commitment to advancing nursing leadership, education, research, mentorship, and health equity beyond geographical boundaries. It also demonstrates the important role Black nurses and nurse scholars play in building meaningful partnerships and strengthening the global nursing workforce.
Dr. Ade-Oshifogun’s Fulbright experience created opportunities for the exchange of knowledge, culture, and innovative approaches to nursing education. Her service reflects BNANMEP’s growing international reach and its vision to empower nurses to make a difference in their communities and around the world.
